Explore the many  activities open to you at Hallaton Fieldwork Group. You’ll find something for every season of the year and fitness level!   Younger budding archaeologists (aged 8-16) would benefit from joining Leicestershire and Rutland Young archaeologists club https://leicestershireyac.wordpress.com/

ALL YEAR ROUND ACTIVITIES

We have monthly meetings where we plan and review our activities.  We carry out geophysical surveys, field walk and organise focussed excavations.  We clean and catalogue our finds, write up and archive our results in the public domain.     We also support ad hoc projects that reflect our members individual interests.   In addition to the field work we arrange to visit other heritage sites in and outside the Leicestershire area.
Meeting Times are usually 7.30pm, Monday nights at Slawston Village Hall

8th April - A talk by Debbie Frearson, "Can't you just give me a few hours? Volunteers as an underestimated agency' Debbie will be talking about different types of volunteering in the sector and the benefits and challenges.

13-20th April - The Annual Excavation is back! This year we will be excavating at Hallaton Mill Mound. The week-long excavation will be continuing our archaeological investigations started in 2019 of this multi-period site. All members are warmly invited to take part on some or all of the days - there will be a range of activities including digging, recording, finds washing and ID. Further details and timings tba.

13 May - AGM at 7pm followed at 7.30pm by the monthly meeting when Helen Sharp will give a talk on the latest results on the Hallaton Helmet.
